Whether it’s for Valentines Day, a Birthday or an Anniversary – It’s tough to choose a gift, without being over-the-top…unless being over the top is your plan!
However, if you’re looking for an original idea that isn’t about the price, but rather the thought, then my guess is you have to think in terms of a gift or action that connects personally with the one you love.
In my opinion, music is one of the best ways to bring a smile to someones face – So what could you do with music, to create a gift (without just buying a CD)?
Here are some ideas on How you can be original with the Gift of Music:
Download his or her favorite love song onto a CD and have it playing in the background when they come in. At that point you could have a dinner ready or just flowers with a copy of the song on disc attached with a thoughtful card.

Give him/her a small personal gift that relates to their favorite song, and attach a card and a CD of the song: For example, if their favorite song is sung by a group – attach tickets to a concert, or if their favorite song is about a specific item, attach that item in the form of a toy model, or toy. Lets say their favorite song is about an emotion, like saying I Love You, then you could attach a poem you’ve written or one of your favorite poems.

The gift of charity may be the perfect gift for your loved one. Here’s an idea – Give him or her a beautiful card with their favorite song on CD attached, and in that card tell them you’ve made a donation to a charity on their behalf. If they know someone who has passed from a particular health issue, select a charity on behalf of that person, and mention them in the card.
Or you can Download a love song about charitable giving and put it on a CD for them in a card, and in that card include a note that you’ve purchased 10 meals for a local shelter in their name.
********************************************************************************************
Give them a card, with their favorite song on CD attached, and then give them a picture or poster that relates to that song: For example, it could be a poster of the singer or group, or it could be a picture of something to do with the song.

If they have a favorite movie, give them a CD of the soundtracks from their favorite movie, along with a copy of the movie and a card – Then take them out for a traditional dinner and movie night, or stay home and watch their favorite movie with them.

This is a bit of work, but I’m sure it would be appreciated! Create a free web page for your loved one; include all their favorite stuff, like music, art, sports…whatever they’re into. You can look at a page I created for my friend’s birthday here. If you decide you want to give it a go, here’s the link to get you started: Creating Your Web Page Gift

People love to know they’ve been heard, and believe it or not, when you take the time to give them something personal like the music they love, it makes them feel like you must love them, because you were listening.
