Well in my practice as a San Diego wedding photographer I do many weddings. And weddings are very important events.This is a day where there would be lots of joyful moments.But it can also bring a lot of stress and pressure.  One of those pressures is to capture that day forever.And you should want to immortalize the events during that day.And the only way that you can achieve that is by getting better. 

One of those ways to get better is to practice.  I don’t mean to practice at a paid wedding.  No, you should practice taking photos of weddings you don’t have pay in.That way you can be creative with your shots and you can also experiment with new ones.  I have done this many times as a San Diego photographer.Of course you can’t command the bride and groom to pose for you unless you know them well.But you can still take great shots from that event.

Another way to improve your skills is to enter a photo competition.Competitions are a good way of bringing out the best in a person.These competitions are a great venue to try and do your best.And what’s good about this is that at the end of the competition you can gauge how you performed by comparing your work to other works. Doing San Diego event photography this has helped me see where I need to improve in as well as see my strengths.And you would also get a nice award if you win.

So there goes some of the ways you can improve your photography skills.  As a professional your goal should be to become the best photographer you can be.

First thing you can do differently is having the photo taken from a different perspective.  What I mean by that is to not just take a picture from the normal way you would do it.You can have the picture’s direction changed and coming from a different angle.  This is helpful in my San Diego wedding photographer business.  People are so used to seeing photos taken that look the same that when you change it up a little bit it makes big difference.Take some photos you take from a higher angle.Or you can make a common portrait and take it from the ground looking up to make it different.It can really change the photograph dramatically.

Another good tip to do with photographs is to play with the eyes.In general all pictures are taken by having the subject look directly at the camera.But where the subject’s eyes are will really impact the look of the photo.What you could do differently is having the subject look off camera.  This really gives the photo a different look and feel to it. Doing a lot of San Diego event photography I have my subjects do this all the time.

Another great tip you can implement is having your subject look at an object within the picture.This is so effective if your goal is to advertise something.  You can have the subject staring at the product you are advertising.  This is a trick that I do a lot as a San Diego corporate photographer.It really makes a big difference by bringing the focus onto the product.

One thing you must know is the flash range of your camera.That mistake is made over and over again by a lot of photographers.  As a professional San Diego photographer, that is a mistake I can’t afford to make.  Most cameras have a range for their flash to work.A way that you can be sure you know what that range is, would be to check the manual.  Because if you are out of the flash range your photo will come out too dark or too light.  So learn what the flash range is and watch your photos you take improve dramatically.

The thing you should know next is that most cameras now come with a scene mode.This makes it real easy to have your camera adjusted to it’s surroundings.  This helps me a lot as a San Diego wedding photographer because the scene mode allows me to adjust it to the time of day.  Or it can adjust it so it knows if you are outside or inside.This gives your camera the ability to take great shots.

Last thing you always have to keep in mind is to always have fun when taking photos.  Of course when I am doing San Diego event photography it is easy to have fun. But when you are taking pictures remember to do it.  It will allow you to be in the right state of mind.That frame of mind will give you the ability to take great photographs.

So those are some tips you can apply to taking photos.Yes digital cameras are wonderful.But you are still going to have to know how to use it properly for great shots.

First of all you want to be able to anticipate.Anticipation is the key in taking shots, for example, of candid photos. That has been one of the secrets of taking great photographs as a San Diego photographer.  Because you would be more proactive rather than reactive when you know how to anticipate.It means that you would be more involved in the happenings that you would be taking.  Because when you just react to moments you can miss them so easily.You can take great photos if you would know how to anticipate.

Another thing you want to do is positioning.What I meant by that is that you have to have a very good location so that you can also take great shots.  As a San Diego wedding photographer you have to always be in a good position.Because if you are out of position then your shots would not be great.  People could get in the way of your photo.  Or you can have objects get in your way.Finding a great position would lead to great shots.

Lastly, you should know the schedule of the events that would happen.  This has been key in my San Diego event photography business.  Because when you know what the schedule of events are you can be ready to take your photos.Because you might miss some moments if you do not have any idea of what is going to happen next.

So those are a couple of tips to taking better photos.If you just notice these tips are not technical tips involving your camera.  They are more for the artistic part of taking photos.

Now you could be a professional photographer.Or you could be just one of those who attends weddings.Either way you can still follow these tips so that you can capture great photos during a wedding.  These are ideas that have developed from my work as a San Diego wedding photographer.  So these are proven ideas that have captured many wonderful moments.

First thing that must be done is for you to create a list.Create a list of shots that you want to be taken.That way, you would be more organized.Being organized during a very hectic would really help you capture the shots that you want to be taken.  This is from experience of many hectic wedding days as a San Diego photographer. 

Next thing is to give a copy of the wedding schedule to the photographer.  Let them know as much as possible of what is going on.  That way they are more prepared for any shots that could come.  This is an event as this comes from experience doing San Diego event photography.Not knowing what’s going to happen next will make it harder for you to take great shots.You will be more prepared to take shots if you just know the flow of events during that day.

So there goes some of the wedding photograhy tips.You will have no problems in taking photos during a wedding if you just abide by these two tips.The photographer would be ready to take great moments at any time during a wedding.

First of all determine when you are going to take the family photos.  As a San Diego wedding photographer I see that the timing of this is different for every wedding.  Some people prefer to take pictures before the wedding.This will give them more time to do things during and after the wedding.  Others prefer after the wedding.  By determining when this will be you will be better prepared.

Next you will want to know when the wedding is starting.  This way you can capture great shots of guests arriving.  As a San Diego photographer this is a great time to capture candid shots of your guests.  You will also be able to get everything ready for the big ceremony.

Finally, you should determine the time of the reception.This is important since you will know how much time you have left.  In other words you can figure out what kind of extra shots you can take before running out of time.  Doing wedding as a San Diego event photography allows me to coordinate this big event to run smoothly.With these kind of events you do not want to be disorganized.

Just like in school or anything that requires skills, one must practice.  In my San Diego wedding photographer business that is what has helped me get better in taking wedding shots.  So to get practice be willing to take photos everywhere you go.  If you go to a wedding take photos of the wedding.Capture some shots that a photographer would normally capture.  You can then compare it to what the real photographer took.

One must also practice taking photos at different time in a day.  As a San Diego photographer we get plenty of sunshine. But even then you have to know how to use the sunshine for your photos.  By taking different photos of different times of day you will learn what works and what doesn’t.And as you learn you will know what shots are the best at different times of the day.

Another way to practice yoyr photography skills is by going to big events.  Events like a county fair.  Or events like a sports game.  Even a child’s soccer game is a great event to take pictures.  Doing San Diego event photography has allowed to realize how different the kind of photos you take at big events are.  You will improve your skill at taking photos of moving subjects by practicing at some sporting events.
