So Much of Me Belongs to You

My love for you fell on my heart
like the weight of ten thousand drops
For I awoke from sleep, and I did weep
Lonely is my heart for you

The tears they fill my eyes
as this pen scribles words of love
I want you so
I want you to know
Please don’t go
I love you so
The miles between us they grow
but somehow I’m able to see
that without I’de be
forever alone, forever at sea

I awoke you from sleep
to see if you weep
for my love as I do yours
I needed a gentle word
a soft voice
a tear
to compensate for the emptiness
of your not being here

Love Poem: I had written this poem when I was 19 years old (*ahem, just a few years ago*). This poem is about being far away from someone you love and waking up in the middle of the night to find yourself consumed with loneliness. So you pick the phone up, (middle of the night or not) and call and hope the person you love won’t be upset about disturbing their sleep. More than that, you hope they can’t sleep either. Absence does make the heart grow fonder, but in this case there was already deep love. This love poem is about missing the one you love. It’s a long distance love poem.

She Knew

Before he was born, she knew
His hair would be blond and his eyes would be blue
despite the darker locks of her other two
she knew

A God given blessing, she knew
Her love for her son would reach beyond true
Before her father passed into the dew
he left her life’s secret
his gift being her clue
Though not understanding it then,
Instinctively she knew

Although her little brother passed years before, she knew
Her son was God’s blessing, not sent in his lieu
Each spirit like one but visited by two,
she knew

Her son’s arrival, so glorious a day, she knew
His spirit clearly heavens voice reaching through
She then understood her father’s last clue
“Release yesterday’s pain to the Holy Spirit’s hue”
She always knew

Poem about a Premonition: “She Knew”…This poem is for my friend and how she expressed the challenging events of her life. Although not her only loves, three of her great loves are her son, her father and her brother. Her father and brother had passed years ago, but now, older and wiser, she is grateful for her blessings and despite her tremendous loss, she is emotionally tenacious and guided by compassion. One interesting tidbit …before her son was born, and after having 3 daughters, she knew she would have a blond haired boy. You guessed it, she did in fact have that boy who happened to have beautiful blond hair. She believed in all her being, that this son was coming to her. It so happened that her son’s arrival into this world occurred when her father was exiting - she knew.

Shadowed Love

I have done my best not to love you
I have tried so hard to make it die
and now my plot it works
but when will I know why

I see your pain,
I feel your tears,
Yet no pain or tears you reveal,
For you have closed your doors to all this strife
so the agony won’t seem real

I love you. It’s true.
Yet, for me, when I love,
it’s easy to say,
the words will flow,
and you feel me in this way

For you, emotion words are not natural
For you, being quiet is fair,
although you love me, you just don’t speak
then I believe you simply don’t care

To save our love from the trap fallen into,
so many times and more,
please see my side and I’ll see yours,
and in doing so
we can meet at love’s door

Shadowed Love: I wrote this poem years ago (many years ago), in my late teens (ions ago!). The poem refers to people who love each other but are unable to effectively communicate and express their love to each other, because they are simply on different wave lengths; one is expressive, the other isn’t. It’s a common tale, and often couples just won’t work it out, so they break up - only to discover that breaking up doesn’t work either. Perhaps the answer is to meet each other half way.

OOPS! I Forgot to Pee

Let’s see
Up at three
Feed the baby
Back under the sheets
For a couple hours of sleep
Kids up for breakee
Gulping my tea desperately
Rush them to school gleefully
Walk the baby expediently
This being my time for me
Back home to clean insistently
Do three loads of laundry
Flee for groceries
Video Game Rentals late constantly
Go to work in my office impatiently
Where things have piled up overwhelmingly
Hubby claims I’m grumpy
Instead of crying I laugh hysterically
Baby bellows loudly
Time to change his nappy
Phone rings twenty times daily
Say I never call a bit angrily
Can’t explain my life so harry
Don’t want it to come out sounding scary
So I apologize gracefully
Kids home noisily
I’m panicky
My office work is not done completely
Oh well, its time to get them to hockey
Feed them first to keep them healthy
Bath time comes busily
Bedtime is love and kisses and favourite stories
Baby sleeping beautifully
My feet are up now restfully
Oops, I forgot to pee!
I assess my day on the toidy
Would I change my life at forty?
Are you kidding
Not this life’s inspired journey!

OOPS, I Forgot to PEE!
