A Country Song about Healing

An Inspirational Country Song about Healing
In deciding upon a theme song for this poem written by me back in 2007, I chose the inspirational message and music of ‘Healing’ by Michael English & Wynonna
Healing, hope, tiredness, and renewal come upon us no matter what – and sometimes in that mixed-up order. ‘there’s no rainbow without the rain’ comes to mind.
I actually can’t remember what was going on in my life at the time I wrote this, but upon reviewing the words, I can say it reflects how hard I’ve been working over the past ten years and longer, and it seems to speak to one of those moments of pure exhaustion.
Eight years later and older, growth seems to have taken hold of this heart: Tired, sure, that happens. Exhausted, oh yeah baby, that happens too, but above all else, hope wins the day – Hope for what’s possible in this glorious thing we are gifted, called ‘life.’
As written in this song, when all else fails, take time to heal by holding onto hope. It’s the only way out; that, and love.
Life isn’t perfect, far from it, but words and music are the best mind-massage for this flawed, imperfect, and beautiful world we live in.
Here’s the poem I wrote Michael English and Wynonna’s song inspired that:
My Heart is Tired
My heart is tired
not from love
or holding you
not from wonder
believing dreams come true
not from the light
which still peeks through
or a nod of yes by the morning dew
I know it’s me
Just Me.
I need to sleep
let go and weep
Resting to renew
then Leap
to see reflections
once again
of hopes and dreams
that I intend

What a beautiful song! I don’t think I’ve heard Michael English before–he has a wonderful voice to go along with Winona’s.
And your poem is very touching. Haven’t we all had feelings like that!
Beautiful poem Barbara! I think we all feel that way at certain times in our life. Sometimes, we can’t even identify exactly why. It is also a beautiful song about healing. Perfect combination!
Thanks Cynthia!
Thanks Merry, we sure have, lol!
