I had a bad day, so I wrote this song. At peace inside while chaos rages outside. Just tired of it all. When you want your inside self to finally meet your outside self. *Listen on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube Music.* iTunes is an affiliate link.
FAILING WITH VALOR (LYRICS)
Sleeping through life
on a bed of bricks,
is the only explanation
why I’m tired like this
No soft cushions or landings in sight
no silly moments or soft pillow fights
no peace of mind, no guarantees
so many moments I fall to my knees
just constant battles
despite no outer peace
Yet inside my soul I’m somehow still free
(PRE CHORUS)
Inside and outside
I’m two separate beings
one struggling on earth
one completely at peace
(CHORUS)
Tired of trying, tired of fighting
Tired of not knowing what comes next
Tired of giving it everything I’ve got,
when it doesn’t seem to matter
that I’m doing my best
failing with valor
Swinging my sword at life
there’s no shining armor
for this exhausted brave knight
(VERSE 2)
I’m praying my shell
that the world gets to see
Can finally merge
with the spirit in me
That voice on the inside
that always believes
nothing’s impossible,
when weary and beat,
But today I’m tired
feeling only defeat,
everything in front
feels way out of reach
so I tuck myself in
on those bricks where I sleep
(PRE CHORUS)
Inside and outside
I’m two separate beings
one struggling on earth
one completely at peace
(CHORUS)
Tired of trying, tired of fighting
Tired of not knowing what comes next
Tired of giving it everything I’ve got,
when it doesn’t seem to matter
that I’m doing my best
failing with valor
Swinging my sword at life
there’s no shining armor
for this exhausted brave knight
(BRIDGE)
I hope to wake up to a place
where both sides of me meet
the one who’s exhausted
and the one who’s at peace,
until that day comes
my calm version can lead,
Steadying these steps
as I stumble through haze,
not asking for miracles
just a little less weight,
so I can put down this sword,
and put my armor away
(OUTRO CHORUS)
But for now,
Inside and outside
I’m two separate beings
one struggling on earth
one completely at peace
THE STORY ABOUT THE LYRICS:
MY BAD DAY Resulted in This Song – If You’re Struggling, Please Listen – I Get It, and I Wrote About It
Have you ever felt like you’ve been going through more than is fair, or more than you can absorb right now? You have those moments where it all just feels like too much. Fortunately, they don’t happen every day, but when they do, they hit hard.
That’s how these lyrics and this song came together. On the evening of September 18, 2026, I felt compelled to just pour it all out and put these words down.
To be completely honest, I almost didn’t write it. It’s quite personal for me, and I usually prefer to keep my writing hopeful. But I realized I could still be hopeful by being completely honest about how I truly feel.
When I was younger, I felt like my inside self and my outside self were fully aligned. But as I’ve gotten older and life presented more and more challenges, my outside self started to detach from my inner peace. That widening split became a daily reality, and it’s the emotion behind the pre-chorus words. Although the outside world can be chaotic, I am deeply grateful that my inside self still finds a way to hold onto calm.
Finding that inner calm doesn’t mean I’m not stressed, and it doesn’t mean my physical self isn’t exhausted from carrying it all.
“Steadying these steps as I stumble through haze, not asking for miracles just a little less weight” (Lyrics)
If you’ve ever felt like your inner spirit is completely unshakable, yet your outer self is plain tired from fighting life’s daily battles, you aren’t alone.
WHO THIS SONG IS FOR:
- For anyone who feels exhausted from constantly fighting the daily battles of life, especially when they are doing their best but still feel like nothing is changing.
- For someone whose inner self feels calm and hopeful while their outer life feels chaotic, creating a painful disconnect between how they feel inside and how they function in the world.
- For anyone going through a difficult or overwhelming period and needing to know they are not alone, especially when life feels heavier than they can comfortably carry.
- For people who are strong in spirit but physically and emotionally worn down, who still believe things can get better even when they are tired, discouraged, or feeling defeated.
- For anyone longing to find peace between the person they are inside and the person the world sees, especially when they are ready to put down the emotional weight they have been carrying and finally breathe.
