A FATHER’S DAY IN HEAVEN (Lyrics)
[Verse 1]
All the fathers gather around
Sitting on a cloud
We listen as we hear you shout
“Happy Father’s Day,”
We’re proud,
Then as your Dad I stand up tall
to speak these words of grace
I quietly whisper in your ear
“Baby girl, I love this place”
[Chorus]
Please don’t worry anymore
You’ve spent too much time in pain
I am your father from the start of time
And with you I shall remain
I hold your hand
And never leave your side
And the voice you hear inside your head
Is my comfort when you cry
So go forward smiling in this life
I’m always watching from above,
And when you think you can’t walk on,
I carry you with love
[Verse 2]
I knew you long before you were you,
we’ve traveled together throughout time,
Our soul plans have always crossed
I send you lots of signs
we help each other grow and learn
it’s just that you forgot
that although I’m here now,
and you’re still there,
both are just a temporary spot,
We’ll meet again, we always do,
so live you life and be your truth
it’s what I want for you
[Chorus]
Please don’t worry anymore
You’ve spent too much time in pain
I am your father from the start of time
And with you I shall remain
I hold your hand
And never leave your side
And the voice you hear inside your head
Is my comfort when you cry
So go forward smiling in this life
‘Cause I’m watching from above
And when you think you can’t walk on
I carry you with love
[Bridge Final Chorus]
I know you worry if I’m okay,
I want you to remember
what I’m about to say,
“Baby girl I love this place”
So go keep smiling for me,
enjoy your beautiful life,
yes I’m watching from above,
And when you think you can’t walk on,
I carry you with love,
I always carry you with love

THE STORY BEHIND THE LYRICS:
A Father’s Day in Heaven began as a Father’s Day memorial I created for my own dad and first published it on YouTube in June 2015, two years after he died in 2013. At the time, my grief was still incredibly raw. One of the thoughts that weighed on me most was a question that so many people ask after losing someone they deeply love: Is my dad okay?
Over the years, I have seen that same question asked countless times by others who have lost a parent. We miss them, we worry about them, and we long for some reassurance that they are at peace. When I originally wrote this piece in 2015, I wrote it from my father’s perspective. In my heart, I needed to hear him say, “I’m okay, Barb. I’m okay.” The words became the comfort I was searching for, a reminder that love does not end when someone leaves this world. On June 13, 2026,
I revisited and expanded the original work, transforming it into a complete lyric video and song while preserving the heart of what I wrote all those years ago. Much of the lyric remains rooted in the original piece, while Verse 2 was written entirely new in 2026. The message behind these lyrics is simple: Dad is okay. The father in this song speaks from a place of peace, love, and reassurance. He reminds his daughter that he is still with her, that she is never truly alone, and that his greatest wish is for her to continue living her life fully and joyfully.
Although written from the perspective of a father speaking to his daughter, the message may resonate with anyone who has lost a parent or someone they love.
If you are missing your dad today, especially on Father’s Day, I hope these lyrics bring you even a small measure of comfort and peace.
