The Right Wrong Number” is a fun, lyric video about someone who went on a blind date, wasn’t happy with how it went, went to text her friend to tell her, and found out, oops, it wasn’t her friend she texted. **Listen on Spotify, iTunes, or Amazon:** Amazon is an Affiliate Link.
THE RIGHT WRONG NUMBER (LYRICS)
[VERSE 1]
Hey, it’s me, you won’t believe the night I just had
This blind date bordered on an alien contact
How did I end up here
Being set up with dates
who live in the past
telling obvious lies
I can’t find anyone who matches my vibe
Sorry to text you so late tonight
[VERSE 2]
Do you remember someone once said
Blind dates are like gambling
There’s little chance of a win
Well, they were right, this date was a fail
I’m texting to vent
Hope that’s okay
I really wish I hadn’t gone out on this date
[CHORUS]
Then a message came back
“I’m not who you think
but I understand the frustration
of dating like this
My vibe is an island
I never quite match
Yet my friends always tell me
I’m a really good catch”
[VERSE 3]
Wait, you’re not who I thought?
Why didn’t you stop me? I texted a lot
Alright, I’m listening
What’s your excuse
I rambled on and on
Were you amused?
Explain it to me
Oh, wrong number, who are you?
[CHORUS 2]
Then the message came back
“Just because I’m not who you think
doesn’t mean I don’t relate to your crazy dates
You sound just like me
maybe that’s why it’s fate
We both end up stuck
in the same kind of trap
Maybe you texted my number
because I’m the right match”
[BRIDGE]
That wrong number moment
brought us together
Or maybe that blind date
began our adventure
Our vibes were in sync
Our energies matched
Hitting those wrong digits
was the right kind of catch
We didn’t hang up
We finally met
We need to thank that wrong date
For setting us up
We texted all night
Past midnight’s glow
A wrong number that turned
Into something we know
Wrong number, right number, who really knows
We got to know each other that day on the phone

The Story Behind The Lyrics
I wrote these lyrics on March 12th, 2026. This was one of those moments where I stepped a little outside my usual comfort zone. I’ve mentioned before that writing from a couple’s perspective doesn’t always come naturally to me, so I like to challenge myself now and then by leaning into storytelling.
This lyric takes a playful, easygoing approach. It follows a woman on a date that doesn’t quite unfold as she expected. Afterwards, she starts texting her friend, casually sharing the little details and her thoughts about how it all went. Then comes the twist — she realizes the message wasn’t sent to her friend at all, but to a complete stranger.
I imagined this song with a soft singer-songwriter, folk feel — something light, a little bouncy, and easy to listen to. I didn’t feel the need to tie everything up with a clear ending. Instead, I wanted to capture that simple, relatable moment — the kind that makes you laugh after the fact — and leave space for whatever might come next.
Most of us have had at least one texting mishap, whether in dating or everyday life, and that shared experience is what makes this story feel so familiar. This one was just meant to be fun, a little unexpected, and hopefully something that brings a smile.
