THE STORY BEHIND THE LYRICS:

I saw my children’s faces as I wrote this. Every word comes from the heart of this mother, and many other moms, I’m sure. Although my children are grown, for moms, the love and bond continues for a lifetime. I’ve written several lyric story songs about children, parenthood, and the different stages of watching a child grow. I’ve come to understand that the deep, unexplainable love a parent feels begins the moment a child is born and never ends.

There is one thing parents often say about the love they feel for their children: “it is impossible to explain.” That is absolutely true. The moment your child is born, something changes inside you. An emotion takes hold that is so deep and overwhelming that words can never quite capture it. I wanted to explore that feeling throughout this song, from the moment a child enters the world and through all the years that follow.

The moment your child is born, your world changes in a way you could never have imagined. From that day forward, they become part of every hope, every fear, every joy, and every breath you take. They may grow up and build lives of their own, but the love you feel for them remains, as does a mother’s worry. And no matter how old they are, that love never changes. It simply becomes part of who you are for the rest of your life, as it should.
