When it all seems to be falling apart, there’s mom, pulling it all together again. From scraped knees to broken hearts, mom is where we gather our strength. Our heads rest on her shoulder, and with outstretched arms wrapped tightly around her, we feel safe. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in our lives or hers; that moment when mom hugs us, we know for that minute that everything is going to be O.K.

How does she tell her family? How does she turn their world from a loving home of normalcy and safe routine into a storm of unknowingness, a world of fear? She knows her kids don’t deserve this kind of pain, and just that fact is enough to rip her insides out. It isn’t fair..but she has to find a way to pull it together, because moms are ‘Tough’ and that’s what they do for everyone in the home.
The Family Stands Strong Beside Her – Everyone Steps Up
Dad breaks down and cries tears he never knew lived in him. Mom holds dad with incredible grace, and tells him, “honey, it’ll be ok, we’ll get through this, I’m still here, and I’m a fighter’. Everyone gathers ’round for a family group hug, but it’s the most moving moment of everyone’s life; they know within their entire being that Mom truly is the toughest person they’ve ever known. This fight will become the fight of not just her life, but of theirs as well.
THE SONG is Called ‘TOUGH, by CRAIG MORGAN”
This incredibly moving song written by Joe Leathers and Monty Criswell, and recorded by Craig Morgan, was released in 2007. The song is about a dedicated mother who receives the terrible news that she has breast cancer. Surprisingly, the song only reached Number 11 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs Billboard in 2007. However, the first time I heard the song was by Tate Stevens, the Winner of the X Factor in 2012, where the song was reborn for many who hadn’t heard it.

What an amazing song and a very talented young man. Mothers do tend to be real “tough” troopers that hold the entire family together in difficult times.

Wow, there seems to no end to beautiful emotional songs that country artists share. My own mother had breast cancer so this is particularly moving for me.
