We’ve all known her, or we are her — the woman who carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. Born Into Worrry – Yesterday’s Girl is for anyone who grew up wrapped in worry but eventually discovered the quiet strength it takes to set herself free and finally let go. **Currently Streaming: Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon – Amazon link is an Affiliate link**
BORN INTO WORRY – YESTERDAY’S GIRL (Lyrics)
(VERSE 1)
Counting the exits
Checking the locks
A storm is coming
although it may not
She’s standing on guard
Just like she was taught
Born into worry
Her first chapter story
Said never let go
Always take inventory
(VERSE 2)
Building a life with trembling hands
Burying the pain
as youth often demands
Bravery crept in, life met its match
Crushing the present
She let go of the past
Little did she know
That resilience can’t last
Unless she battles that shadow
And pulls off its dark mask
(CHORUS)
The ghost began knocking
The door left open a crack
It floated back in
her worry was back
now it’s a battle
She wants to be free
unspoken pain,
unhealed misery
won’t have a chance
She chose victory
(VERSE 3)
Facing her fears
She sees only the entrance
No need for a lock
her ghost gone with a vengeance
There’s peace in her heart
It didn’t come easy
She grew flowers in cracks
she let them all grow
that’s what it took
For her to let go
(BRIDGE)
She looks ahead
Miles have been flown
She believes in herself
She doesn’t know where she’s going
Her wings lift her up
she loves to fly free
Finally at peace with her own history
Light as a feather
Days always brighter
Love and forgiveness now guide her way
Reclaiming herself
She lives for today

THE STORY BEHIND THE LYRICS:
I wrote these lyrics on March 15th, 2026, during a quiet moment when I was reflecting on the women around me. I started thinking about the women in my own life, and also the many stories I come across every day online. What struck me was how common worry seems to be. For some, it begins very early in life. For others, it slowly develops through experience. Either way, it becomes something many of us carry for years.
As these thoughts unfolded, I found myself thinking about how many girls and women are now trying to learn the very challenging practice of letting things go. It isn’t always easy. In fact, it can feel unfamiliar at first. But I believe learning to release worry works much like strengthening a muscle. The more we practice finding our balance and refusing to let the outside world drain our spirit, the stronger we become inside. I believe deeply that there is a quiet strength within all of us that never disappears — it simply waits to be remembered. When we begin shifting our thinking and learning to loosen our grip on worry, something interesting happens. Our energy changes. Our perspective softens. And sometimes life begins to bring unexpected things our way.
While writing the song, I also thought about the early chapters of a woman’s life — those formative years when we are young and the world is quietly shaping who we become. Some girls grow up facing heavier challenges than others, while for some the harder struggles appear later. But challenges are part of life regardless of when they arrive. Learning to steady our thoughts and move forward with self-belief can make those moments easier to navigate. And when I speak about faith here, I’m not necessarily referring to something outside of us. I’m talking about faith in our own inner strength — the understanding that with time, awareness, and practice, we can become stronger within ourselves.
